Etymology
Analysable as /yel/ + /dam/. From Proto-Fula-Serer *ƴel (blood), whence also Serer yal (“blood”). Cognate with Bedik ma-ʄɛl, Mbulungish yél, Baga Pokur yɛla.[1]
