Etymology
From Proto-Mon-Khmer *kiiɲ() ~ *kiəɲ() ~ *kaiɲʔ (“elbow”). Cognate with Khmer កែង (kaeng) (as in កែងដៃ (kaeng day, “elbow”)) and Vietnamese cánh (as in cánh tay (“arm”)). For the loss of earlier *k(ʰ)-, see ʔaː¹.
