From Hellenistic Koine Greek ἄδενδρος (ádendros) with the ancient pronunciation of < νδ > as [nd] retained. Morphologically, from ά- (á-, privative α- un-, -less) + δέντρο (déntro, tree).[1] Also see άδενδρος (ádendros).
