Etymology
Doublet of Tatar көпчәк (köpçäk, “nave, wheel hub”), borrowed from Volga Bulgar. Cognate with Chuvash кӗпҫе (kĕpśe), Bashkir көпшә (köpšä). Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *küpček.[1]
Cognate with also Kazakh күпшек (küpşek), Kyrgyz күпчөк (küpçöq).
