лѣса
Russian
Noun
лѣса́ • (lěsá) f inan (genitive лѣсы́, nominative plural лѣ̈сы, genitive plural лѣ̈съ)
- Pre-1918 spelling of леса́ (lesá, “fishing line”).
Usage notes
- лѣса́ (lěsá) is one of the few Russian terms in pre-1918 orthography in which a stressed ѣ (jě) is pronounced like the letter ё (jo). It is therefore written with a diaeresis in a similar fashion: ѣ̈ (jǒ). Note that this only occurs in certain inflections.
