Most likely related to Proto-Slavic *oriti (to drag down?), whence разори́ть (razorítʹ). Not related to Latvian er̃rīgs (angry, gloomy), Latin errō (I wander, I get lost, I err), Old High German irri (confused) or Russian ёрш (jorš).
