Etymology
From Proto-Turkic *yum- (“round”).
Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (jumɣaq, “globular or round thing”); Turkmen ýumak (“ball”), Khakas ныңмах (nıñmax, “ball-shaped”), Turkish yumak (“ball of wool/thread”), etc.
