1. (Biblical Hebrew) a burning piece of wood, a firebrand, an ember
   • Tanach, Zechariah 3:2, with translation of the New International Version:

     הֲלֹוא זֶה אוּד מֻצָּל מֵאֵשׁ׃

     Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?
