Verb

اِغْتَرَبَ • (iḡtaraba) VIII, non-past يَغْتَرِبُ‎ (yaḡtaribu)

  1. To be psychologically or societally alienated. Different to Ghurba (غربة), as Ghurba is the physical alienation whilst Ightarib is the psychological alienation.
Alienation is separation and means loss of unity with the social structure, and alienation from oneself.
The motives of alienation [Ghurba] are mostly socio-economic-political or even psychological, while the motives of alienation [Ightarib] remain psychological only.
