تنش

Persian

Etymology

تن (tan, present stem of تنیدن (tanidan, to weave (a spider's web), to twist)) + ـش (-eš).

It is not found with the current meaning in early 1900s dictionaries (Steingass, Dehkhoda, Hayyim). It might be a phono-semantic matching of French tension or some other European language.
