Borrowed from Classical Persian فالوده (fālūda), reborrowed from Arabic فَالُودَة (fālūda), from Middle Persian [script needed] (pʾlwtk' /pālūdag/, “starch jelly, flummery”, past participle), from Middle Persian [script needed] (pʾlwtn' /pālūdan/, “to strain, filter, purify”). Cognate with Bengali ফালুদা (phaluda), Gujarati ફાલુદા (phāludā) and Punjabi ਫ਼ਲੂਦਾ (falūdā).
