نطر
Arabic
North Levantine Arabic
Etymology
From Arabic نَظَرَ (naẓara). The voiceless quality of the stop is irregular. It might have been influenced by the t in related اِنْتَظَرَ (intaẓara) (through coalescence of ت and ظ, leading to it being reinterpreted as a Form I verb), or perhaps by Aramaic נְטַר (nəṭar).
