چسپیدن

Persian

Etymology

Probably an s-infixed form of Proto-Iranian *čap- (to seize, attack, stick, strike), itself possibly from Proto-Indo-European *kap- (to seize, hold), though the palatalization of the velar *k- to a *č- is unexpected. If indeed from the Proto-Indo-European root, then the palatal is perhaps by analogy with Proto-Iranian *čak- (to strike hit).[1]
