From Aramaic ⁧צוֹר⁩ (Ṣōr), from Phoenician ⁧𐤑𐤓⁩ (ṣr /⁠Ṣur⁠/, “rock”); compare Akkadian 𒋗𒊒 (Ṣurru), Arabic ⁧صُور⁩ (ṣūr) and Hebrew ⁧צוֹר⁩ (Tzor). Doublet of ⁧ܛܘܼܪܵܐ⁩ (ṭūrā, “mountain”).
