Inherited from Sanskrit भार (bhāra, “a burden, load, weight, heavy work, labour”). Cognate to Sinhalese බර (bara, “heavy, weighty, cumbersome, important”). Doublet of ބަރި (bari), ބަރު (baru), and ބަރާ (barā)
