Inherited from Sanskrit प्रस्थान (prasthāna, “setting out, departure; walking, journey; source, cause”). Cognate to Sinhalese පටන්ගන්නවා (paṭangannawā, “beginning from, since”). Doublet of ފަށަނީ (faṣanī) and ފަށަން (faṣan̊)
