Inherited from Sanskrit प्रस्थान (prasthāna, setting out, departure; walking, journey; source, cause). Cognate to Sinhalese පටන්ගන්නවා (paṭangannawā, beginning from, since). Doublet of ފަށަނީ (faṣanī) and ފަށަން (faṣan̊)
