Borrowed from Punjabi [Term?] (whence ਚੁੱਪ (cuppa, “silence”)), ultimately derived from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀘𑀼𑀧𑁆𑀧 (*cuppa). Compare चुप (cup) and चुपना (cupnā).
