Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀨𑀺𑀓𑁆𑀓 (*phikka),[1] possibly related to Sanskrit फक्क (phakka). Cognate with Punjabi ਫਿੱਕ (phikka), Marathi फिके (phike).
