      परि णो हेती रुद्रस्य वृज्याः परि त्वेषस्य दुर्मतिर्मही गात् ।
      अव स्थिरा मघवद्भ्यस्तनुष्व मीढ्वस्तोकाय तनयाय मृळ ॥
      pari ṇo hetī rudrasya vṛjyāḥ pari tveṣasya durmatirmahī gāt .
      ava sthirā maghavadbhyastanuṣva mīḍhvastokāya tanayāya mṛḷa .
      May Rudra's missile turn aside and spare us, may the great wrath of the impetuous One avoid us.
      O Bounteous God, turn thy strong bow from our princes, and be thou gracious to our seed and offspring.
    • c. 1200 BCE – 800 BCE, Kṛṣṇa-Yajurveda (Taittirīya Saṃhitā) IV.5.1.9:
      नमो॑ अस्तु॒ नील॑ग्रीवाय सहस्रा॒क्षाय॑ मी॒ढुषे॓
      अथो॒ ये अ॑स्य॒ सत्वा॑नो॒ऽहं तेभ्यो॑ऽकर॒न्नमः॑ ॥
      Homage to the blue-necked, to the Thousand-eyed one, to the bountiful.
      And to those that are his warriors I have paid my homage.
