From स्वीकार (svīkār) + -णे (-ṇe). First attested as Old Marathi 𑘭𑘿𑘪𑘲𑘎𑘨𑘜𑘹 (svīkaraṇe). Compare Gujarati સ્વીકારવું (svīkārvũ), Hindi स्वीकारना (svīkārnā).
