Etymology

From Magadhi Prakrit *𑀰𑁂𑀘𑁆𑀘 (*śecca), from Sanskrit শৈত্য (śaïtya).

চেঞ্চা (ceñca)

    • 14th century, Madhav Kandali, Saptakanda Ramayana Sundara Kanda:
      কেহো কল কাটে, কেহো মাটি সিঞ্চে,
      কেহো আনি ঢালে জল
      নুমাইবে নোৱাৰি, চেঞ্চা পোড়া ভৈলা,
      গাৱত নাহিকে বল
      kehö kolo kaṭe, kehö maṭi siñce,
      kehö ani ḍhale jolo ,
      numaibe nöwari, ceñca pöṛa bhoila,
      gawoto nahike bolo .
      Some cut banana trees, some sprinkle soil,
      for not being able to extinguish (the fire), they became very tired (lit: cold and burnt)
      there's no strength in their body.
