স্নিগ্ধা
Bengali
Etymology
Learned borrowing from Sanskrit स्निग्धा (snigdhā), the feminine form of स्निग्ध (snigdha, “loving, affectionate”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *snigdʰás, from Proto-Indo-European *snigʷʰ-tós, from *sneygʷʰ- (“to snow”), with extensive semantic shift. Doublet of স্নিগ্ধ (snigdho) and স্নেহ (sneho) (see there for explanations for the shift).
