Inherited from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀮𑀝𑁆-𑀉 (*laṭ-u). Cognate with Hindustani لَٹُّو (laṭṭū) / लट्टू (laṭṭū), Marwari लट्टू (laṭṭū), Maithili लट्टू (laṭṭū) / 𑒪𑒙𑓂𑒙𑒴 (laṭṭū).
