Etymology
Borrowed from Urdu حیدر آباد (haidar ābād), from حَيْدَر (haidar, “lion”) + آباد (-ābād, placename suffix). Named in honour of the Caliph Ali Ibn Abi Talib, nicknamed "Haidar" for his lion-like valour in battles.[1]
