From Pali tusita (literally “contented; gratified; joyed; pleased; satisfied”); perhaps via Old Khmer tusita, tussidda. Cognate with Modern Khmer តុសិត (tosət). Compare Sanskrit तुषित (tuṣita), from which Thai ดุษิต was derived.
