Etymology

From สิงห์ (sǐng, “lion”) +‎ บุรี (bù-rii, “city”); perhaps after its founder King Kraisorarat (ไกรสรราช), whose name literally means "king of lions" or "royal lion"; possibly first used around 1650 BE (1107/08 CE).[1]
