Etymology

Cognate with Mycenaean Greek 𐀁𐀚𐀏 (e-ne-ka); otherwise Pre-Greek. Formerly thought a composite of ἕν (hén) and *ϝέκα (*wéka) (see: ἑκών (hekṓn)). However no trace of ϝ is seen in the Mycenaean Linear B record.
