From Proto-Indo-Iranian *HrΜ₯Ε‘tikΓ‘s, from *HrΜ₯Ε‘tΓ­Ε‘ (β€œspear”), from Proto-Indo-European *h₁rΜ₯stΓ­s (whence 𐎠𐎼𐏁𐎫𐎑𐏁 (arΕ‘tiΕ‘, β€œspear”)). Compare Avestan π¬€π¬­π¬±π¬™π¬Œ (arΕ‘ti), Sanskrit ΰ€‹ΰ€·ΰ₯ΰ€Ÿΰ€Ώ (αΉ›αΉ£αΉ­i).
