Etymology
Derived from Proto-Turkic *āŕ (“few, very little”), equivalent to 𐰀𐰕 (āz, “few”) + 𐰴𐰪𐰀 (-qïńa). Cognate with Old Uyghur ’’zxyn’ (azqïńa). Compare also Turkish azıcık (“very few”), diminutive of az (“few”).
