Inherited from Prakrit 𑀓𑀼𑀁𑀓𑀼𑀫 (kuṃkuma), from Sanskrit 𑘎𑘳𑘒𑘿𑘎𑘳𑘦 (kuṅkuma). Doublet of 𑘎𑘳𑘽𑘎𑘳𑘦 (kuṃkuma). Compare Old Punjabi ਕੁੰਗੂ (kuṅgū).
