From Proto-Anatolian [Term?], from Proto-Indo-European *bʰódʰh₂-ey ~ *bʰdʰh₂-én-ti, from the root *bʰedʰh₂- (to dig, burrow).[1] Cognate with Proto-Balto-Slavic *bádīˀtei (to pierce, stab), Latin fodiō (to pierce; to dig), Tocharian A pāt- (to plow).
