From aber (“estuary, mouth”) + dau (“two”) + Cleddau (“(River) Cleddau”); literally "mouth of the two Cleddaus" in reference to meeting point of the Cleddau Wen (“White Cleddau River”) and Cleddau Ddu (“Black Cleddau River”).
