Etymology
From Maltese Buttiġieġ, from bu t-tiġieġ (“the one with the chickens”, literally “chicken father”), equivalent to Arabic أَبُو الدَجَاج (ʔabū ad-dajāj). Presumably referring originally to a poultry farmer.
