Deus o pague
Galician
Etymology
Literally, “God pay it!”.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): (standard) /ˈdew‿loˈpaɣe̝/, (colloquial) /ˈdjo‿loˈpaɣe̝/
Usage notes
Currently, Spanish Dios has replaced Galician Deus (“God”) in vulgar speech, but not in written or formal speech. Also, because of historical sandhi, -s + article o is actually frequently pronounced as -lo.
