Etymology
Two possible origins:
- Borrowed from Polish Hawryluk, a patronymic surname from the personal name Hawryło.
- Alternative romanization of Havryliuk, from Ukrainian Гаврилюк (Havryljuk), patronymic form of Гавріїл (Havrijil, “Gabriel”). Mostly found among Ukrainian Canadians.
