Klein Dochteren
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as thuchterthe in 1207. Etymology unknown. One tentative etymology interprets the name as a derivation of klein (“small, lesser”) and a second compound noun formed from ducht (“community”) and herde (“uncultivated land, heathland”). The element klein was added to distinguish the settlement from Groot Dochteren.
