Maasbracht
Dutch
Etymology
First attested as bragth in 1265. Compound of the hydronym Maas and a term etymologically related to breken (“break”), here referring to newly developed lands. The element Maas was added at a later date to distinguish the settlement from Bracht. Compare Remmerden.
