     Có một lần tôi muốn dịch chữ langage, định dịch là “ngôn ngữ”, mà sợ nó trùng với ngôn ngữ là langue theo sự quen dùng của ta, tôi bèn tra Pháp-Hoa tự điển thử xem. Thì ra họ dịch là “ngôn ngữ”. Tôi nhận thấy họ có lý lắm: Có dùng “ngữ ngôn” mà dịch langue thì mới té chữ “ngôn ngữ” ra để mà dịch langage.

     One time I wanted to translate the word langage, at first I went with ngôn ngữ, but I was afraid it would be confused with langue like how we were used to using it, so I looked it up in a Franco-Chinese dictionary. Turned out they did translate it as ngôn ngữ. I think they had a point: if langue translates to ngữ ngôn, it makes sense for langage to translates to ngôn ngữ.
