Borrowed from Malayalam രാമചന്ദ്രൻ (rāmacandraṉ) and Tamil இராமச்சந்திரன் (irāmaccantiraṉ), both from Sanskrit रामचन्द्र (rāmacandra) (राम (rāma, “dark”) + चन्द्र (candra, “moon”)).
