Reconstruction notes

  • While *ht was not yet gradable in Proto-Finnic, it is in almost all descendants. As a result, basically each descendants exhibit the weak grade, which is regular for this word.
  • In Eastern Finnish, Karelian and Ludic, the form descends from the form *joohtatta-. The reason for this is not known; compare however Kukkuzi jouhtua (from *jouhtu-?, variant of *johtudak).
