Etymology

Formed as *zybь (oscillation) + *-ati, but beyond that - of uncertain origin. Compare *xybàti of similar meaning.

  3. (reflexive) to hesitate

Inflection

Later reanalyzed among some daughter languages as:

  • *zybь (oscillation)
  • *zybъkъ (unsteady)
