Proto-Tocharian
Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *h₂neḱ-. Cognates include English enough and near, Latin nanciscor, Sanskrit आनट् (ā́naṭ). The tocharian vocalism demands the root to have an initial h₁. Otherwise it would start with an /a/-vowel. Cf. Hackstein (Untersuchungen zu den sigmatischen Präsentien des Tocharischen. Göttingen: Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht.) 1995: 227 for detailed discussion
