Etymology
First attested as rosmella between 800 and 850. Probably derived from a compound of Proto-Germanic *rausa- (“reed”) and *malhô (“glen, swamp”). The toponym was later reinterpreted as rosmolen (“horse mill”). Compare Orsmaal in Orsmaal-Gussenhoven.
