1. Diminutive of agua; a small amount of water

• agua is a feminine noun, but the masculine definite article is used because it starts with a stressed a: el agua. Its diminutive, agüita, stresses the second syllable, so the feminine definite article is used as with any other ordinary feminine noun: la agüita.
