Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *bardzmā, derived from *bardzā > bardhë (“white”), with a typical semantic pattern for the nomination of bark and bast. Compare Proto-Slavic *lyko (“bast”) from Proto-Indo-European *lewk- (“light, shine”).[1]
