From cranio- + Ancient Greek κλάσμα (klásma, “fragment, morsel”), from κλάω (kláō, “I break off”).

- (medicine) The crushing of a child's head, as with the cranioclast or craniotomy forceps in cases of very difficult delivery.[1]
