Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish درت نعل (dört nʿal, at full gallop, by making the animal run),[1][2][3] from درت (dört) and نعل (nʿal),[4][5] equivalent to dört (four) + nal (horseshoe) + -a (dative suffix), literally on/with four horseshoes.
