From Ottoman Turkish اویروب چویرمك (evirüb çevirmek),[1] from اویرمك (evirmek) and چویرمك (çevirmek),[2][3] equivalent to evir- (to turn) + -e (adverbial suffix) + çevir- (to turn, to rotate) + -e (adverbial suffix), literally by turning (this way and that way).
