Etymology

Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish گزمك (gezmek, to walk about, to rove, stroll, wander).[1][2][3] Alternatively, Orel proposes an early borrowing from South Slavic, whence Bulgarian яздьа (jazdʹa) and Serbo-Croatian jezditi.[4]
