Literally, “to throw löyly”
Verb
- (idiomatic) to throw water on the sauna stove (kiuas) in order to produce steam and increase the humidity in the sauna and the feeling of heat, the apparent temperature (even though in fact, the water's evaporation makes the temperature drop)
